Meet your instructors

Dr Rod Smith, Psychiatrist

A Consultant Psychiatrist in private practice for over 30 years, Dr Rod combines deep clinical experience with a lifelong commitment to biblical truth. Over decades of frontline work, he has refined a therapeutic framework integrating psychiatric rigour and Christian conviction, helping people grow toward maturity and lasting health.

Andy May, Pastor

Pastor at Bundoora Presbyterian Church for over 16 years, Andy has extensive experience in pastoral care and spiritual formation. Through years of walking with individuals and families, he offers theological clarity and practical wisdom for the real complexities of helping people through suffering, growth, and discipleship.

Featured Playlists

Explore video collections built around core themes in mental health, identity, relationships, and spiritual growth — all shaped by a coherent, integrated framework.

Anxiety, Depression and Burnout

Explore anxiety, depression and burnout within a coherent framework that addresses the whole person. These conversations provide practical diagnostic clarity, theological depth, and structured approaches to recovery — equipping you to respond wisely to some of the most common struggles of our time.

The Foundations of Self

Unpack how early relational dynamics shape identity, self-worth, maturity and emotional patterns. Drawing on solid biblical foundations and Dr Rod’s “design and distortion” framework, these videos examine anxiety, people-pleasing, perfectionism, anger, and performance-driven living — offering a pathway toward a stable, grace-grounded sense of self.

Forgiveness

Move beyond simplistic ideas of “just letting go” to a structured, honest approach to forgiveness. These sessions explore the emotional stages of offence, the role of repentance and rebuke, the Four R’s framework, and the difference between forgiveness and trust — providing clarity for navigating real wounds and complex relationships.

Who is Prime Therapy Resources for?

Prime Therapy Resources is designed for Christian therapists, pastors and church leaders, and individuals seeking deeper personal growth. If you care about integrating biblical conviction with psychological insight, this library is for you.

Is this accredited for professional development?

Prime Therapy Resources is not formally accredited by any professional association. That said, many professionals may find the content appropriate for self-directed or self-recorded professional development, in line with their profession’s guidelines.

Is it really free? How is it funded?

Yes, the content is freely available. Prime Therapy Resources is a small, locally created passion project supported by voluntary donations. If you’ve found it helpful, your support helps us continue developing new material and expanding its reach.

What theological perspective shapes the content?

Prime Therapy Resources is rooted in historic evangelical Christianity and committed to biblical faithfulness. Its frameworks are intended to serve the wider church, regardless of denominational background.

Is the content suitable for non-Christians?

Prime Therapy Resources is explicitly Christian and grounded in biblical theology. However, many of the therapeutic frameworks and psychological insights may still be helpful to those exploring faith or working in broader settings. The material is clear about its convictions while engaging honestly with universal human struggles.

Do I need to watch the videos in order?

Videos are organised into topical playlists that often work best in sequence, as ideas build progressively. That said, this isn’t a formal course — you’re free to dip in and out and explore whatever is most relevant to you.

How can I use these videos?

You might use the videos for personal reflection, professional development, pastoral team training, mentoring, or case discussion. They are designed to function like a well-used book — ideas you can draw on thoughtfully in a variety of settings.

Can I play the videos to an audience, such as in a church setting?

Yes. Our aim is to serve the wider church and make these ideas widely accessible, so you’re welcome to share the videos in church services, leadership training, small groups, or educational settings. If you need a direct video link for use outside the membership portal, please get in touch and we’ll happily provide one.

About
Prime Therapy Resources

In 2018, after hearing Dr Rod Smith speak on forgiveness at the Belgrave Heights Convention, Andy May asked a simple question: how could these insights be shared more widely?

What began as a small animation project soon grew into a broader vision — thoughtful resources bringing together biblical truth and Dr Rod's decades of therapeutic experience.

From the beginning, the goal has been clear: a gospel-centred exploration of suffering and hope, grounded in both psychology and Scripture.

Prime Therapy Resources quickly grew into a video library of well-formed frameworks to draw on in clinical practice, pastoral care, education, counselling, and personal reflection.

As Dr Rod often reminds us, real change is rarely dramatic. More often, it is steady and gradual — the quiet reshaping of how we understand ourselves, our struggles, and our hope.

Therapy Resources exists to serve that slow, faithful work.
